The policy will provide Emergency Breakdown Assistance if the insured vehicle cannot be driven or is unsafe to drive following a breakdown, fire, theft or attempted theft or damage. We will also provide cover if the vehicle suffers a puncture, flat battery, runs out of fuel, is misfuelled or if the keys are broken or lost. It provides peace of mind for motorists in case of an unexpected emergency. Policy cover is offered alongside or automatically included within a motor insurance policy through a broker or insurer scheme.

Problems are reported via a 24 hour / 365 day emergency assistance telephone helpline and will be dealt with by a network of quality-approved repairers and recovery operators.

Home Start and Roadside Assistance

  • Up to one hour’s labour costs to carry out emergency repairs to try to make the insured vehicle driveable.

Local Recovery

  • Recovery to a local garage or to the policyholder’s home (if nearer) if the breakdown cannot be fixed at the roadside within one hour.

Onward Travel

If the insured vehicle cannot be fixed on the same day as the breakdown, we will either:

  • Provide one night’s accommodation up to £75 (including VAT) per person subject to a maximum of £500 (including VAT).

Urgent Message Service

  • Passes on messages to family, friends or work colleagues to let them know that the insured vehicle has broken down.
